Larnaca bus strike ends

LARNACA bus drives agreed to get back to work at midday on Thursday after they were promised that they would be paid their salaries by the communications ministry.

The drivers had called a 24hour strike on Wednesday because they had not been paid for July as part of a disagreement between the ministry and the bus company, Zenon.

The ministry agreed to pay the money promptly and the drivers, who went on strike at 7am returned to their posts after a meeting with their unions.

PEO union said that employees should be paid every month what they are owed, without being forced to go on strikes because of disagreements between the ministry and their employer.
