Stabbing suspect refuses to cooperate, police say

A 40-year-old man arrested in connection with stabbing a betting shop owner in Limassol on Tuesday is refusing to co-operate with police.

The victim is being treated in hospital but his condition was not life threatening.

The suspect was remanded in custody for eight days pending a police investigation into the incident.

He was arrested in Larnaca a couple of hours after he fled the scene.

Police said the suspect is refusing to co-operate. The court heard that he knife used in the stabbing has not been found yet.

The 49-year-old was stabbed in the side shortly after stepping in to break up a fight between the suspect and another man outside the betting shop.
