German woman confesses to stealing church cash

A 64-YEAR-OLD woman has been arrested by Paphos police on suspicion of stealing money from church donation boxes.

The woman, a German permanent resident of Yeroskipou, was seen taking money from the donation box of the Ayios Rafael church in Pahiamos.

Police questioned the woman who admitted taking two euros that time, and €40 to €45 a few days ago.

She also confessed to stealing money from other churches.

The woman said that between January 1 and May 10 she took €100 from the donation box at the Ayios Neophytos church.

She also admitted to also trying to steal money from the Ayios Georgios church in Yeroskipou.

The woman was charged in writing and released.
