Veteran photographer dies

Veteran photographer Stelios Yiasemides died on Tuesday at the age of 75.
Born in Nicosia in 1938, Yiasemides followed up his graduation from the Pancyprian Gymnasium with Commercial Studies in London.
But on his return to the island in 1959, he chose to become a freelance photographer, working for the Cyprus Mail, as well as Eleftheria and Ethnos, and Times of Cyprus magazine, before landing a job as cameraman at the CyBC in 1965.
He was known for the artistic sensitivity with which he photographed the Cypriot countryside and its people. He kept one of the largest collections of photographs in Cyprus, which he frequently exhibited, earning many prizes and honorary distinctions.
His funeral will be held at 3:30 on Thursday at the Konstantinou and Elenis church in Nicosia.
