Two injured in gun fight

Police are investigating a case of attempted murder after two men allegedly shot and injured a third man in Peristerona late on Friday.

One of the alleged shooters was also injured when their target got wind of the pair and returned fire, police said.

According to reports the two armed men, one of whom is allegedly on the witness protection programme, attempted to ambush another man at around 8pm in the Nicosia district village.

The two injured men were both taken to Nicosia General Hospital.

Police are searching for one of the alleged shooters.
