Football fixtures postponed over ref bombing

All Cyprus football matches for this weekend have been postponed after referees told the Cyprus Football Association (CFA) that they would be abstaining from work after one of their members had his car blown up early on Friday.

The vehicle of Leontios Trattos, a first division and international referee, was damaged while it was parked in the underground lot of an apartment block in Latsia.

The device exploded at around 2.45am causing damage to the car’s windshield, hood and engine, police said.

This weeks matches are expected to take place next weekend with the CFA now looking at when they can schedule next weeks matches.
