Police warn of text scam

Police are investigating a number of complaints they have received from members of the public who have received text messages promising them money.

The message reads: “Your cheque for the amount of €1,152 is ready and could you contact us on the phone number 0088183776023 to give us your information before this evening”. The message sender is “A BANK”.

“These messages are a scam and we ask the public to be very careful and if they receive such a message to ignore it and delete it,” the police said.
