Gambling arrest

OFFICERS from the crime prevention unit raided a betting shop in Arediou late Friday evening and arrested 12 men after finding a room in the back which was being used for illegal card games.

A total of 12 people were cautioned for illegal gambling while police confiscated 159 playing cards, 394 betting chips and €885 in cash.

Six of the men cautioned were found to have outstanding fines in their names and were further cautioned for not settling their fines. All 12 will have to appear before court at a later date.
