Wanted for assault

POLICE are searching for a 38-year-old man accused of assaulting a 34-year-old woman in Limassol, and gun possession.

Police spokesman Andreas Angelides said the 34-year-old went to Limassol police headquarters at around 9pm on Monday to report that she had been the victim of an attack by a known person.

Doctors at Limassol general hospital found bruises on her head and abrasions on various parts of her body.

In search of the 38-year-old, police conducted a search of the accused’s house where they found a pistol and two cartridges, which were confiscated for further investigation.

The authorities are looking into possible charges of illegal gun possession, illegal possession of explosives and causing actual bodily harm.

According to Angelides, after the woman filed her complaint, the 38-year-old contacted her and threatened her, telling her to withdraw the charge.
