COSAC post for Cyprus official

The permanent representative of the Cyprus House of Representatives in the European parliament has been nominated for a post at COSAC, which represents parliamentary committees across the European Union.

Christiana Fryda was recommended by the head of ruling party DISY Averof Neophytou last September when Neophytou was the chairman of Cyprus’ foreign affairs committee at the House. Fryda was among those interviewed for the position and was chosen over representatives from the parliaments of Belgium, Malta and the Netherlands.

She will be on the COSAC secretariat between January 2014 and December 2015. She had been in her current post in European Parliament from 2007 onwards, and had served in Cyprus parliament before that, dealing with EU affairs. She is a lawyer by training.

COSAC, the Conference of Parliamentary Committees for Union Affairs brings together the EU affairs committees of national Parliaments, as well as Members of the European Parliament.
