Wedding crasher steals couple’s cash

The Limassol court on Monday remanded a 32-year-old man for five days for allegedly snatching a box full of wedding-cash envelopes from behind the backs of a newly-married couple during their reception in Limassol on Saturday night.

According to reports, as the couple was nearing the end of the part where they stand and greet their guests, a man wearing dark clothes with a stocking over his face ran behind them and snatched the box with the envelopes.

The reception was being held at in the gardens of a hotel in the Amathus tourist area in Limassol. Members of the reception party chased the thief but he managed to get away towards the beach.

The 32-year-old was arrested late on Sunday night after guests at the weeding were questioned and offered descriptions of the alleged suspect.

The 32-year-old suspect was not a wedding guest and the amount of money stolen is unknown, police said.
