Gambling raids in Larnaca

Police in Larnaca confiscated eight computers during two separate raids at betting shops in the village of Avgorou on Tuesday night after they were tipped off that they were operating as illegal online casinos.

During the raid at the first shop police cautioned the 31-year-old owner as he did not have the necessary permits to run a betting shop, police said.

Officers confiscated five computers, two printers, three CCTV cameras, lottery tickets and €200 in cash.

At the second betting shop, owned by a 48-year-old man, police confiscated three computers.
