Bar review: Cava Inon Pnevmata, Nicosia

By Avra Fialas

If you happen to pass one of the main avenues of the capital – Dighenis Akritas – pay some extra attention between the shops and offices to see Cava Inon Pnevmata – a winery and retail outlet.

Cava Inon Pnevmata – Vinum Spiritus was founded in 2005 by Cretan Stavros Liodes with the idea to “give the chance to the client to get closer to wine without making wine something exclusive and limited to a certain market segment!”

What that means is wine tastings all week long… and the best part is that they are for free except on Wednesdays and Thursdays.
On Wednesdays and Thursdays on offer is the best selection of exclusive wines that might cost €60 or more BUT you can taste three different glasses from them for €15.

“We don’t feel that wine is only for a few people; that is why, the whole week that we offer wine-tastings for free either with a theme – sparklings, Italian wines, French wines, Cypriot, red or white dry or fruity – because we just want our clients to taste them. If you are a true wine lover you know that it’s not only the wine but it also takes a good company and a friendly environment to get the most out of it,” says Stavros.

On Tuesdays you can try a couple of glasses of the special wines selection of the week-from 4.30-9pm. On Mondays and Sundays you can still taste good wines but the most festive days are Fridays and Saturdays.

All the wine tastings offer free gourmet food made by extremely talented and professional chefs. As wine brings people together, food in Cava Inon Pnevmata – an abundance of food – gives a special aura to every evening at the Cava Inon Pnevmata.
Cava Inon Pnevmata strives to offer wines from both the old world and the new world. You can also discover an array of products such as sophisticated delicatessen, special types of pastas, charcutrie, chocolates, fine fish products preserved in oil, foie gras and gourmet delicacies.
