Famagusta reducing garbage collection to twice a week

Famagusta Municipality is having to reduce operational costs and will only be collecting garbage twice a week instead of three, an announcement said on Friday.

“The new programme will be implemented from October 1 and garbage collection in Area ‘A’ which currently takes place on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays will take place on Mondays and Thursdays. Area ‘B’ which currently takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays will take place on Tuesdays and Fridays,” the municipality said.

It added that the public could drastically reduce the amount of garbage the municipality must collect by separating all of their recyclables.
