Arrest for car theft

POLICE arrested a 41-year-old Iranian man on Thursday as part of an investigation into car theft.

A police spokesman said that a woman who owns a car rental office in Paphos reported to police on September 10, that earlier this month she had signed a rental agreement with a 41-year-old Iranian man with a British passport. The agreement was signed on September 2, and the car is valued at around €12,000, police said.

The contract expired on September 7 but following a phone conversation, the 41-year-old told the car rental office owner that he would reportedly return it two days later.

According to reports, the 41-year-old did not return the car on time.

The car was located in Larnaca airport’s parking lot by members of the CID.
