Small wildfire in Paphos in the early hours

 

A FIRE which broke just before midnight on Sunday destroyed 6,000 square metres of wild scrub in Paphos before being extinguished.

At around 11.30pm Paphos’ central fire station was informed that a fire had broken out in the Mesa Chorio region, police said.

The blaze had broken out near a rural road, burning 6,000 square metres of wild shrubbery and hay.

Two small fire trucks and a water tanker from the fire department and a small vehicle from the area’s Game Fund were used to extinguish the blaze, which was put out shortly after midnight.

The cause of the fire is being investigated, police said.
