Driver runs over and injures policewoman

 

A POLICEWOMAN was run over and injured by a 35-year-old man after a routine traffic stop on Tuesday.

According to police, who only released details late on Tuesday, at around 8.15am the policewoman stopped the car on Limassol Avenue in Pera Chorio in the Nicosia district.

On inspection she found that the man was driving without road tax and licence. After telling the driver he would be charged, he drove his car at her injuring her.

The policewoman was taken to Nicosia general hospital by ambulance where doctors found that she had an injured shoulder, spine and abrasions on her fingers.

The culprit was arrested a little while later in the Dali industrial area. He will be charged in writing this morning at around 7.30am, police said.
