Beaten, raped and left by a roadside

A 37-YEAR-OLD Polish mother of two is in a critical condition in Limassol general hospital after being found badly beaten and raped  and left on the side of the road.

The woman was found by a member of the public half naked and semi-comatose on a roadside between Fasoula and Apsiou villages in the Limassol district a little after 6am on Wednesday,  said Limassol CID head Ioannis Sotiriades.

The person who found her immediately called the police and the woman was taken to Limassol general hospital. She was examined by state pathologist Eleni Antoniou who found the woman had been raped and beaten on various parts of her body.

The 37-year-old has a fractured jaw and ribs as a result of the beating.

The woman has not been able to speak to police investigating the case due to her condition. Evidence has been collected from the scene and police will proceed to talk to family members and friends of the victim.

The woman has been living permanently in Cyprus for the last five years with her husband and two small children.
