Limassol to hold its first beer festival

The first annual Limassol Beer Festival is taking place from Friday to Sunday this weekend.

The private initiative is being supported by the municipality Mayor Andreas Christou said.

The event will include almost all local producers and importers. Speaking on Monday, Christou said that he hoped the public would respond to the initiative.

He said although Limassol was better known for its annual wine festival, the island’s well known and – for years – only brewery was established in the coastal town.

The festival will be inaugurated on Friday in the presence of Cyprus Girls Scouts’ cheerleading group, while more cultural events will be taking place over the two days.
