British tourist beaten and mugged

PAPHOS police were yesterday investigating a report by a British tourist that he had been beaten and mugged by two Cypriots.

Police were alerted by a doctor at the town’s hospital where the 28-year-old sought treatment on Thursday morning.

He was found to have a broken nose and abrasions and bruises on various parts of his body.

The man said the incident happened at around 11pm on Wednesday.

Two Cypriot men he did not know had offered to drive him to his flat at Konia, the man said.

Instead, the two men drove him to an unknown place where they beat him and stole his wallet, which contained 270 in cash and credit cards, and his mobile phone.
