Bar review: BarV, Limassol

My friends and I were not looking for a new go-to place for our Saturday nights out when we were pointed towards the direction of BarV for a fun New Year’s Eve, but that’s what it turned out to be. You simply cannot call a night at BarV something other than ‘fun’.

BarV is new on the Limassol club scene; it opened its doors to the public on November 30, welcoming guests to a classy, mostly black and white location. Inside, the bar in the middle gets your immediate attention – it’s quite big for a petite place like BarV. You are also surrounded by island bars throughout the club, ideally placed for groups of four to six people and a more exclusive BarV experience.

Preferably dressed smartly, enter BarV and be amazed by the instant urge to dance – no particular alcohol consumption required either, since the music does the trick on its own. The music in question is mostly mainstream hits, both English and Greek, but the piece de resistance for me was the inclusion of old songs in the playlist at the end of the night which made me reminisce and dance like the world was depending on it. I did not expect to listen to Arvanitaki at a club, nor did I expect to dance to Vissi’s ‘Lambo’. Fun surprise. There’s also been a variety of events going on at BarV, one of them called Casual Greek Sundays, nights marked by an entirely Greek mood.

You will more than likely require a reservation to get a good spot in the club, otherwise it can get a little crowded, but having a good time is guaranteed even sans reservation. There isn’t always an entrance fee, unless there is a specific event going on. You will be spending about €5-€10 for your alcohol requirements, which is pretty much the standard in all Limassol clubs.
