Woman robbed in fake taxi

A 40-YEAR-OLD woman is being treated in a Paphos clinic after getting into what she believed was a taxi during the early hours of yesterday.

According to police, the woman was walking along Ikarou Street when a car pulled up next to her with four people already in it and asked her whether she needed a taxi.

Once she got in she realised that it was not really a taxi and asked him to stop and let her out. However as soon as he did, one of his passengers got out of the car and hit her several times in the face. The man also stole her purse.
