‘Skordelli wanted a love affair with murdered Sigma boss’

MURDER suspect, Elena Skordelli provided a psychic with a photo of slain Sigma boss Andis Hadjicostis in an attempt to send out positive vibes to him that would lead to a love affair, the Nicosia court heard yesterday.

“[Skordelli] had a photo in 2008 [of Hadjicostis], that she gave to a psychic, through which positive energy was sent so that she could have sexual relations with him,” said prosecution witness, Nicosia police Inspector Marios Papaevridiadis.

The former Sigma presenter who is on trial along with three others for the January 2010 shooting, also allegedly tried to cultivate ‘good vibes’ through the psychic to foster ‘positive relations’ with the victim’s father Costis Hadjicostis but was told that Andis would be an obstacle to her efforts.

Skordelli is accused of being one of the masterminds behind the hit on Hadjicostis who was gunned down outside his home late in the evening two years ago this week.

The court has previously heard that she had covertly bought Sigma shares so that so that she could get her own show on the television station.

A witness acquainted with the situation testified that Hadjicostis had not wanted to give Skordelli her own show, and that she then tried to get her own way by buying her way into Sigma.

By November 17 of 2009, Skordelli and her brother Tasos Krasopoulis – the second alleged mastermind –  had 21.7 per cent of Sigma’s share capital, bought from various people.

The witness had been given the green light from the Sigma bosses to purchase a 20 per cent stake himself to stop Skordelli from increasing her percentage share.

Skordelli was ultimately fired from Sigma, because she was insubordinate towards management, the court heard previously.

On trial along with Skordelli and her brother, are Andreas Gregoriou, the alleged fixer, and Gregoris Xenophontos, the alleged shooter. Chief witness is Hadjigeorgiou, who has turned state’s witness in return for immunity after claiming to be the getaway driver.

The trial continues on Wednesday.
