Bar review: Russian Napa Red Square Bar, Ayia Napa

The Russians really are starting to conquer just about everything in the south-east and their arrival on the nightlife circuit a few years back has gone from strength to strength.

In the centre of Ayia Napa you’ll find the best pubs and clubs, which during the summer months are the places to be seen in the evening.

The Russian themed Red Square bar is no exception – the bar oozes a positive vibe with lots of energy and non-stop good music. Mostly Russian house, international hits and techno beats shudder through the venue, with a few home-grown pop songs depending on the night in question.

There is a super large dance floor, DJ box and even a metal dancing pole, but the latter was not in action while I was there. I’m told at weekends the dance-floor is packed to capacity.

During my all too brief visit to Red Square I met a mix of actual Russians (I know, I’m very easily impressed), a few stragglers from the Ayia Napa square and on this occasion, a rather hyped-up bunch of Swedish lads who were having the time of their lives.

Sitting at the bar I could not help noticing that the place was full of beautiful people all having fun in a very good atmosphere – most of the crowd are out of the bar by 2am and heading to the clubs, which continue to party till 2am.

There is a strict door policy, so drunk idiots in footballs shirts are unlikely to get passed the gate. Drinks are well priced (and a good selection) and the bar service is excellent. Make sure you ask for a real Russian Vodka.
