More flights cancelled due to weather conditions

FLIGHTS were cancelled for the second day running yesterday to and from Paphos, leaving another 800 passengers stranded, as Gatwick airport remained closed due to bad weather conditions.

“Unfortunately because of the bad weather conditions that continue to grip Western Europe, flights to and from the UK have been affected for a second day,” confirmed Cyprus airports spokesman Adamos Aspris.

Four flights in total were cancelled yesterday according to Aspris. All four flights were between Paphos airport and Gatwick. Aspris said that yesterday Larnaca’s flight schedule was not been affected.

On Wednesday eight flights to and from Cyprus, affecting 1,200 passengers, were affected during the day, and an additional two flights to Doncaster were cancelled later in the evening.

“The majority of airports in Western Europe remain open, however, due to heavy snowfall there may be some delays or changes in flights for certain airlines,” said Aspris. “For this reason we urge the public to confirm their flight time before starting out for either of the two airports,” he added.

Several airports in the UK have suffered closures other than Gatwick including Edinburgh and London City.
