Solomou Square tenders opened

NICOSIA Municipality yesterday opened the seven tenders received for converting Solomos Square in central Nicosia into a modern bus station.

The conversion ties in with the Communications & Works Ministry’s master plan to upgrade the whole urban transportation system. It will include the creation of separate bus lanes, new bus-stops on a covered central island incorporating electronically-displayed travel information, new pavements and pedestrian crossings, an information office, and a CCTV system for overall security.

When the project was announced last June, it was set to cost around €3.3 million. Once the tenders have been assessed and the contract finally awarded, the work will take an estimated 12 months for completion.

Tenders were received from: Chariloas Apostolides Public Ltd; General Constructions Company & Lois Builders; Iacovou Brothers (Constructions) Ltd; Cybarco Ltd; A.Panayides Constructing Public Ltd; P.A.Cyteco C.T.C Ltd – Nemesis E.D.E. Ltd; and Medcon Construction Ltd & Loizos Iordanou Ltd.
