Club Review: Dargendo, Limassol

Dargendo is the latest addition to Limassol’s nightlife and has already managed to attract a loyal clientele, establishing a name as one of the most popular clubs in town. Located off the main Yermasoyia tourist road, the club is housed in a former bouzoukia place, but the building has undergone a month-long, all-encompassing transformation, emerging as an upscale ultra-hip venue.

The club takes its name from the Italian word for ‘silver’ – an element that is ever-present in the deco. Silver-white couches, bars and extravagant oversized chandeliers create a sense of uber-luxury that can even be seen in the club’s toilets. The ladies’ toilets in particular are testament to extravagance, featuring an extra room where the ladies can fix their hair and touch up on their make up.

Dargendo has a capacity for at least 600 people, featuring a main bar at the club’s centre (adorned by a two-metre chandelier), a private bar at one corner, private couches separated from the main club area, as well as island bars.

What I loved about this club is its spaciousness, but also the layout of its interiors that allows for some much needed breathing space. This is not a place where people are packed like sardines, but a place where you can dance and enjoy your drink freely.

The crowd is decidedly trendy, comprising mostly 25-year-olds and over, dancing to the tunes of the club’s array of well-known DJs. DJ Andrew S became popular after playing at summer hotspots in Mykonos, while DJ Nikos Tryfonopoulos became known after featuring on programmes on Greek TV channel ANT1. Both play a mix of Greek and English pop and dance music.

I would definitely recommend this club for some afterhours fun in the seaside town. The drinks are clean and generous, the music is great for dancing, and the ambience is upbeat. Dargendo is certainly one of the coolest venues operating in Limassol.
