Road rage leads to beating

POLICE have arrested four men in connection with the beating of a 40-year-old on the Larnaca to Ormidhia motorway on Sunday night.

The 40-year-old told police he had been dragged out of his car and beaten by five people after they had refused to let him overtake them. The incident happened at 10.15 pm.

Police said the suspects intercepted the 40-year-old’s car, dragged him out and beat him. The man went to Paralimni hospital with bruises on parts of his body, police said.

“They dragged me out of the car and punched me continuously,” Theodoros Theodorou said.

He had been beaten before his 14-year-old daughter whose shouts alerted neighbours and forced the suspects to stop.

The four were charged and subsequently released.

He was discharged after receiving first aid.

Using the car registration plates, police identified the drivers and passengers who were subsequently arrested.The four suspects are aged between 17 and 23.

Police yesterday were seeking a fifth suspect.
