Quality of life drops in the north

UNEMPLOYMENT, unmanageable personal debt and environmental degradation are causing a drastic drop in the quality of life for Turkish Cypriots in the north, a report published yesterday claimed.
“Around sixty per cent of people say they are now eating into savings to pay debts and household bills,” Muharrem Faiz, head of market research company KADEM, said.

Robbery at Psimolofou co-op

POLICE were yesterday in search of three men in connection with an armed robbery at the Psimolofou co-op.
The hooded thieves made away with around €56,000, police said.
At a little before noon, two hooded men barged into the Nicosia village shop with hunting rifles, demanding the cashier empties the tills.

Russian FM to visit Cyprus

RUSSIAN FM Sergei Lavrov will pay an official visit to Cyprus tomorrow  at the invitation of his Cypriot counterpart Marcos Kyprianou.
According to an official statement, during his visit, Lavrov will be received by President Demetris Christofias and he will attend a working lunch, at the Presidential Palace.
