What message is Cyprus sending the world?

I would like to draw your attention to the practice I have noticed happening at the GSP Stadium during the APOEL Nicosia’s football games – the display of a big banner stating ‘Cyprus is Greek’.
During the Champions League preliminary games (e.g. APOEL vs. FC Copenhagen), you could see it only in Greek, whereas for the recent match against Chelsea a multilingual one had been prepared and displayed, showing the ‘statement’ in Greek, English, German, French, Spanish and Italian.
This game, which, ironically happened to take place the night before Cyprus Independence Day, was broadcasted worldwide, so the whole world had a chance to see the said banner.

This practice seems to be accepted by the club’s authorities and I am just wondering what message is actually being delivered to the world this way by the capital’s club in the time of direct, inter-communal talks on the Cyprus issue and possible reunification of the island.
