Local sensitivities must be taken into account

I refer to your issue of July 19, in which you published a letter by a certain [unknown] person using the initials A.W. (I choose to call him Mr Mystery), from Larnaca.

This letter referred to an article of mine published in your paper on July 12 on ‘misinformation’.

I do suggest people to read Mr Mystery’s letter so that they can ascertain how fanaticism can lead to misunderstanding.

This was exactly the point I made in my July 12 article.

On the points that Mr Mystery makes, I wish to reply briefly as follows:

(a)I have been exerting pressure on all past governments over the last ten years, well before others and I am still doing it.

I stress, however always that local sensitivities must be taken into account and this pressure must be exercised in a non offensive manner – if one wants to be listened to.

(b] I have no problem to refer to CPAG or others when I want to.

And if Mr Mystery knows any members of this group he will realise that my help was sought and offered, as well as my support in my articles.

You should read all my articles Mr Mystery.

(c) The statement made by the Minister of the Interior, has been repeated by myself as a quotation.

However, I will pass on your letter to the Minister – who could be interested on your understanding of Turkish invaders, spies etc – for his comments.

(d) As you are aware, the government has published four new law proposals in order to regulate the titles issue.

Most of the innovations for the solution, I will say, are mine.

So how can you say, Mr Mystery, that I am against the solution of the title issue?

(e) Your comment about myself as having vested interest, not being independent, try to protect the developers etc. it is not taken kindly, since it touches on a libel issue.

I bypass the various other comments made by Mr Mystery which are to a fish-market’s standard.

Lastly I take this opportunity to ask you the Editor, to publish A.W.’s name and address so that his offensive publication can be repeated in court.

At the court proceedings Mr Mystery can speak his heart out and perhaps pay for it as well.
