Heat warning from Red Cross

With temperatures and humidity levels expected to surpass 40 degrees over the weekend, the Cyprus Red Cross Society (CRCS) has warned that it is not just those with vulnerable health who are at risk.

It therefore issued an announcement with a number of precautionary measures civilians need to take during the heat wave to avoid possible health complications.

Orphanides takes the gloves off

Rickshaw workers quit in fear of taxi drivers

A 17-YEAR-OLD boy working for a rickshaw business in Paphos says that he has been assaulted by a taxi driver for the second time in less than a week.

Now the rickshaw company Cypshaw, says its other riders have reportedly left the business out of fear, and say they won’t come back. Now only Alki Michael his son Daniel Laidlaw remain.

Young drivers facing new restrictions

YOUNG DRIVERS are to face a barrage of new measures aimed at reducing road accidents, Transport Minister Nicos Nicolaides said yesterday.

Following a meeting of the Road Safety Council Nicolaides announced six proposed measures including heavier fines, more education and a zero-alcohol rate in breathalyser tests.

Strange sighting of UFO near Paphos

FOUR RESIDENTS spotted a strange light zipping across the coast off Paphos on Thursday night in the latest in a series of incidents of unidentified objects in our skies.

The UFO was clearly seen by John Knowles, a research specialist with Mutual UFO Network, he told the Cyprus Mail the sighting took place near Coral Bay and is appealing for more witnesses.
