Euro is a great equaliser

Mr Virides is entirely correct in his analysis of Cyprus as a holiday destination (Letters, July 2). What he has omitted, as have numerous others, is the basic fact that as Cyprus voted to become EU members and consequently adopted the euro.

It is now possible for anyone to make a direct price comparison with most other Mediterranean holiday destinations. This makes the prices charged here even more obviously excessive.

Unless the government and people of this island get the message – and soon – they won’t have to be concerned about a reduction in tourists: there simply won’t be any!
