TEPAK won’t change admissions policy next year

THE INFORMAL Rector’s Council of the Technological University (TEPAK) decided yesterday not to accept students with international accreditations for the academic year 2009-2010.

The decision was reached at the university’s board meeting on June 17, it said.

According to an announcement issued by TEPAK yesterday: “The Executive Committee of the Technological University of Cyprus has authorised the Rector’s Informal Council in co-operation with the Commission of Studies and Student Welfare to address the issue of students through special admission criteria.”

The decision not to accept students based on international accreditations was made in line with the regulations drawn up by the Cabinet regarding students’ admission to state tertiary institutions in Cyprus and which had been submitted to parliament for a vote, it said.

TEPAK said it also supported the House Education Committee’s position on the matter.
