Bar review by Nathan Morley

A perfect family pub
Tee Jays, Protaras

I’ve never been crazy about Protaras, despite being a very pretty resort it’s the one area I seldom visit, but when I do I usually pop into Tee Jay’s, just by the sea.

It is probably the best-known family bar in Protaras, situated just off the main strip and open daily during the summer months.

Joanne and her long-standing team of staff offer a warm and friendly welcome to all.
The decor is bright, clean and modern with wooden floors and a fabous patio on both sides of the bar, offering sea views – it’s the perfect place for an early evening drink or snack.

Tee Jay’s is renowned in the area for its fabulous food, which, incidentally, is reasonably priced – the menu is extensive, there is also a specials board, children’s menu and vegetarian options to choose from.

The patio area and beer garden is the ideal place to relax in the summer months with a chilled glass of wine or a pint of local beer.

There is a wide selection of beverages available at the bar, including non-alcoholic beer, which is almost impossible to find in Ayia Napa and Protaras nowadays.

The pub has a surprisingly well-programmed “jukebox” playing music for grown-ups, you’ll hear no rap or trance here.

As I sipped my non-alco beer, I was treated to the sounds of Smokey Robinson, the Beatles and Fleetwood Mac – which was a perfect change to the thumping sounds of most pubs in the area.

The pub also offers live music sets during the summer months, featuring melodic pop bands, solo artists and even the occasional tribute band.

It is decked out with flat screens and a 6ft projector screen showing all major TV sporting events, especially international football matches during the season.

What I like about Tee Jays is the friendly atmosphere and mix of customers, you’ll find a wide mix of customers, from pensioners on vacation, to teenagers and locals.

Tee Jays is located on the strip between Vrissiana Hotel and Sunrise Hotel
