We can holiday anywhere in the world with Cypriot prices

We are utterly amazed at the so called ‘rip offs’ which occur every day in Paphos.

My husband and I have been visiting Paphos for holidays for the past 20 years. However, this year we have decided not to take our holidays on your beautiful island.

It appears that since Cyprus joined the EU, it gave most hotels, restaurants, shops and taxis the opportunity to increase prices to extortionate levels. This has nothing whatsoever to do with the current credit crunch, or the decrease in value of the English pound. It simply boils down to pure greed from those concerned.

It is now more expensive to travel and stay in Cyprus, than it is to travel and stay in America – and indeed many other parts of the world. You are quite simply ‘pricing yourselves out of the tourist market.’

We and many of our friends who ‘were’ also regular visitors to the island of Cyprus, will not be returning. Sadly it will be ‘Goodbye Cyprus, hello world’.

You have so many empty new builds and yet the building is still allowed to continue. In so doing, you have completely spoiled a  once beautiful island.
