Some good news to brighten the Letters pages

I read many letters in these columns that bring out the troubles of this country, this continent – this world. They all make forceful points.

I would like to bring something of a more cheerful nature to light for readers – something good and useful that has happened right here in Limassol.

Many of the pavements all the way up Leontiou to Makarios Ave (and beyond northwards) have been made safely walkable. The kerbs have also been renewed with clear black and white markings, making both crossing the road and driving safer.

Congratulations, therefore, to the municipality for all the work done to assist both drivers and pedestrians. Not that many people walk… but then I’m a 78-year-old Brit with a white stick and darks glasses.
