Cyprus only has itself to blame

I first came to Cyprus in 2001 and had a enjoyable holiday. Being involved in tourism, the following year I detected the rot setting in.

Lack of forethought to tourism, massive increases in costs and indifferent service with the decline of the Cypriot charm disappearing due to non-local staffing.

Reconstruction and improvement of areas has rarely been completely finished in following years, with indecision by governmental departments.

Distrust with bad developers and the title deeds farce – has stopped people buying and coming. High air fares have not helped Cyprus, but mostly high prices from retailers, hoteliers and restaurants – all in rip-off mode – are all to blame for the situation the island has put itself in.
