Cannabis nursery found in Nicosia apartment

ONE hundred and fifty cannabis plants were found in a Nicosia apartment on Tuesday night. A 36-year-old man was arrested in connection with the find and yesterday remanded in custody for eight days. The plants, 45-85 centimetres in height, were located in two rooms specially set up to grow the plants, police said. Nicosia Drug Law Enforcement Unit (DLEU) officers found the plants after the suspect gave his signed consent for a search of the Lakatamia apartment. During the search investigators also found 10 plastic bags containing cannabis stems as well as two plastic bags containing what police suspect is cannabis. The apartment has been linked to Saturday’s drugs bust in Protaras where more than 260 cannabis plants were found growing in a private villa.
