Three men assaulted on Larnaca street

THREE men from Romania are in hospital after being attacked by seven Indian men in a street near the St Lazarus Church in Larnaca.

The incident took place at 9.30pm on Monday when the three Romanians walking along Adonidos Street were attacked by the gang.

According to police, the attackers held iron bars, which they used to hit the three men all over their bodies. The gang then fled the scene, leaving their victims seriously injured.

Police officers found two of the three wounded men, a 27-year-old and a 50-year-old on the street where they were attacked.

The men were taken to Larnaca General Hospital, where it was confirmed that the 27-year-old sustained a fractured skull, and the 50-year-old sustained a fracture to the arm.

The condition of the 27-year-old was particularly serious and he was transferred to Nicosia General Hospital, while the 50-year-old was kept at Larnaca for treatment.

Meanwhile, a 21-year-old man- the third Romanian who was attacked later checked in to Larnaca Hospital telling doctors that he was attacked by seven unknown men. He sustained a wound to the right ear, was given first aid and released.

The three men told police that the seven Indian men attacked them because one of the three victims was in a relationship with a woman from Sri Lanka who was also friends with one of the Indian men.
