Boring? No, but England has many other drawbacks

Dear B. Jones,

You, like thousands of others, obviously didn’t do your homework and research properly before you moved to Cyprus. Of course having a holiday somewhere will be totally different to living in the country. If you knew of the limited public transport system. why move to that country if you can’t drive and can’t get around and explore the wonders of the island?

You talk about the only way people enjoy themselves here is by sunbathing or attending British bars, playing Scrabble or bingo. You obviously haven’t been on the wonderful nature walks that are available to you in the Paphos region or walked along the lovely beaches.
I live on the other side of the island and am well aware that there is in fact much more to do in the Paphos region than there is on the Eastern side but myself and my husband (who is retired) find more than enough to do to keep ourselves occupied all year round and we never go to pubs and play bingo or such as like.

Activities are not going to come to you, you have to go out and find them and make your own entertainment.

By going back to the UK, you may not find it ‘mind-numbingly boring’ as you do in Cyprus, but you’ll be much worse off financially, looking over your shoulder every five minutes when you go out, locking your doors and windows and you definitely won’t be sitting in your garden reading a book on beautiful, sunny winter afternoons !

Maybe you and so many like you who do nothing but moan about Cyprus so much should go back to the UK, you’ll soon realise why you left in the first place and you’ll leave this lovely island to those of us who genuinely came here because we love the island and the people and don’t want it to be England in the sun.

S. Smith,
Frenaros
