Can last minute arrivals really save us?

CTO says tourism bookings down 20-30% this summer

THE CYPRUS Tourism Organisation (CTO) is basing its hopes on last minute bookings, after statistics showed there has been a 20 to 30 per cent reduction in bookings for the summer.

The information came to light during yesterday’s House Finance Committee meeting, which discussed the CTO’s 2009 budget.

Talat to stand down if no 2009 solution found?

If the comments of Mr Talat are to be believed, and there is no positive agreements reached on the Cyprus Problem by the end of 2009 (which is beginning to look likely) then both Talat and President Demetris Christofias should stand down. Then moves toward permanent partition should be commenced by a people’s coalition, for the sake of the people, stability and world standing of both sides.

Akhtars at centre of latest prison ruckus

VISITING hours at Nicosia’s Central Prison were suspended for an hour on Sunday after an inmate allegedly attacked a warden.

Father attacks teacher in classroom

THE FATHER of an 11-year-old boy barged into his son’s classroom and beat up his teacher because the latter had told the child off for misbehaving.

The incident occurred at Larnaca’s Ayios Georgiou primary school yesterday morning while the teacher was in the middle of a class.
