OVER HALF of Turkish Cypriots say they would not vote for the 2004 Annan plan if it were put again to referendum, a poll in Kibris newspaper has revealed.

In 2004, over 63 per cent of Turkish Cypriots voted for the plan compared to only 24 per cent of Greek Cypriots.

Strict measures for weekend football

IN LIGHT of repeated recent displays of hooliganism at football matches, police yesterday announced a series of measures ahead of tomorrow’s match between two of the island’s top teams.

The match, between Anorthosis and Apoel, will take place at Antonis Papadopoulos Stadium in Larnaca at 4pm.

Car bomb

A CAR BOMB went off during the early hours of yesterday in Limassol, police said.

The explosion went off at around 3.25am while the vehicle was parked in an empty field outside the 24-year-old owner’s home. The bomb caused a fire which destroyed the woman’s car completely, police said.
