We all need to work together for peace

Congratulations to Makarios Droushiotis for his excellent comment piece (‘Wanted: Greek actor with a conscience’, Sunday Mail, February 1).

I am one of the Turkish Cypriots who really want this island to be reunited again. I was born in 1954 and do remember what happened in ’64 and in the following years. Many Greek Cypriots – mostly the young ones – think that everything started in 1974 and that it is all our fault.

Of course bad things happened during the invasion but we need more people to tell the Greek Cypriot people that both communities had suffered and now is the time to put all this behind us and do whatever we can to unite our beautiful island.

Like Mr. Droushiotis says: all Cypriots should be equal and work together to make our island better and prosperous place to live in good harmony.
