Paphos considers high-rise buildings

HIGH-rise buildings could soon redraw the skyline in Paphos.

A Paphos councillor yesterday confirmed that the mayor, Savvas Vergas, was looking at ways of saving space in the ever-growing town, and had put together a group of local architects who are examining the possibilities of creating high-rise buildings.

According to the councillor, these would help to improve the problem of parking in Paphos, which is growing by the year. “This would save land, which is precious,” said the councillor who wished to remain unnamed.

If the proposals turn out to be viable, they will be put to the government in the hope of winning their backing.
