Government approves cash for Gaza

THE CABINET yesterday approved €150,000 in emergency financial assistance to tackle the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

Government Spokesman Stephanos Stephanou once again emphasised the need to end Israeli attacks in the region, causing “carnage and removing the prospect for peace in the region”.

Stephanou said the Foreign Ministry was closely monitoring the matter with the Israeli vessel that “clashed with” the small cabin cruiser Dignity that was carrying a shipment of medical aid from Cyprus in an effort to break the blockade of the Gaza Strip

“We express our regret that a boat with humanitarian aid was not allowed to reach its destination to help the humanitarian crisis that exists in Gaza,” the Government Spokesman said.

Stephanou also expressed “our support to the Palestinian Authority and to all efforts to end the crisis because it is an issue that saddens all of us”.
