Two die in road accidents

TWO people, a Bulgarian woman and a Russian man, were killed on the roads in separate accidents yesterday.

The first accident took place in Limassol in the early hours, when a 55-year-old Russian tourist was killed after he lost control of his car and crashed into the front of a bank.

The man was critically injured in the crash and rushed to Limassol General Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

The second fatality took place on the motorway at around 1,10pm, claiming the life of a 43-year-old Bulgarian woman.

The accident occurred on the Larnaca-Kofinou motorway en route back from Larnaca airport where the woman and her 26-year-old Limassol employer had collected her husband.

Larnaca traffic police chief Kyriakos Panteli said the van swerved off course and crashed into the motorway’s central reservation just by the Kofinou flyover. All three passengers were injured upon impact. The 43-year-old died on her way to the Kofinou Health Centre.
