Chanukah celebrations on Sunday

CHANUKAH celebrations will receive a significant boost this year as 4.5 metre tall Menorahs are erected around Cyprus, the Cyprus Jewish Community Centre said yesterday.

A special celebration, including the participation of local dignitaries, will be held in Larnaca this Sunday, December 21.

Cypriot municipalities approved the request, put forth by long-time local resident and Rabbi of Cyprus, Rabbi Arie Zeev Raskin.

“Chanukah’s a time for celebrating the freedom to openly celebrate our shared values; this Menorah proclaims that message to the world,” said Rabbi Raskin, Director of the Cyprus Jewish Community Centre.

“We appreciate the town’s eagerness to bring the universal message of Chanukah to the citizens.”

The Official Chanukah Celebration will be held on December 21 at 5pm at the Apothikes Gallery on 81-83 Agios Lazaros Street in Larnaca.
