Foul play note ruled out

POLICE ARE not ruling out foul play concerning a fire that broke out in the house of deputy Attorney-general Akis Papasavvas.

The flames, which began from a wooden shack behind the residence, spread to the kitchen and upper flour, causing extensive damage.

Commenting on the incident, which occurred late on Friday, Attorney-general Petros Clerides said it would be particularly distressing if arson was determined, since it would mean criminals were now targeting state officials.

“If the fire was intentional, then this is the beginning of the end,” he said.
