Two hit and run accidents

TWO YOUNG women were wounded in two separate hit and run accidents which took place in Limassol and Paphos a few hours apart from each other.

In Limassol, a 17-year-old girl was hit by a car while crossing October 28 street at the Limassol seafront road. The accident took place at 8.20pm on Sunday and the car’s driver abandoned the wounded girl in the street. The 17-year-old was taken to Limassol General Hospital, where it was confirmed she sustained a fracture to the right knee. The girl was kept for treatment.

A 22-year-old man from Limassol was arrested and is in remand while investigations continue.

Another hit and run took place in Paphos at 2am on Monday.

A 24-year-old woman was hit by a car while trying to cross Agapinoros Street on foot.

The driver, again, fled the scene leaving the victim lying on the street. She was taken to Paphos General Hospital, given first aid and released. Police are investigating the case, and trying to identify the driver involved in the accident.
